GENERAL NOTICE - The Bloor West Village Players

To encourage new voices, new connections and new talent, Bloor West Village Players, as a complement to its Main Stage 2022/23 season, will present on Zoom a series of 5-8 new or lesser known plays by Ontario playwrights. These plays will be cast, given 5-6 rehearsals, and presented with minimal and appropriate costumes, props, backdrops and sound and performed for the company’s online audience, which might be a Pay-What-You-Choose audience or a ‘Members only’ audience, depending on the material and experience of the Director.

The first two plays, for which we are seeking Directors to present to Pay-What-You-Choose audiences, are:

Airport Tales by Carol Libman (cast in July, rehearse and mount in August)
A Wake: We are Dancing by Mary Barnes Amoroso (rehearse and mount in October)

If you are interested in directing one or other of these two plays, please reply to VillagePlayersOnline@gmail.com with your resumé and indicate in which you are interested. We will then send you the script and would like you to prepare your pitch and send us a one-page proposal by July 14 in preparation for a Zoom interview to be scheduled the evening of July 20.

If you’re not available for either of those two plays but are interested in directing an online play later in the season please let us know, again by replying to VillagePlayersOnline@gmail.com along with your resumé outlining relevant experience. It would help if you could also indicate when you are likely to be available: we will keep all interested directors informed as new plays are selected.
