The Evening

On a night to remember, dress with elegance and a little flair! 




Doors into the Classic Ballroom open at 5:30 p.m. for cocktails.



Dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m.




Award presentations commence at 8:00 p.m.

 

Music, DJ and dancing begins at the end of the awards from approximately 10:00 p.m. until 12:30 a.m.

The Venue

Once again, this year's Awards Gala will be held in the “Classic Ballroom” at the Paradise Banquet & Convention Centre. Recently renovated and expanded, its elegant marble halls and the gentle rhythms of the waterfall provide a suitable backdrop to an evening of theatrical celebration, reunions and fun.

Accommodations



To ensure a safe and enjoyable evening, ACT-CO has reserved a limited number of rooms at the Courtyard Marriott at the special rate of ($139.00 - double occupancy). The rate include complimentary continental breakfast as well as free parking. This hotel is located at Finch and Hwy 400, a ten minute ride away. Rooms must be booked by March 10th!

TICKETS FOR FULL EVENING GROUPS (10+ people) ONLY GO ON SALE February 19, 2007 at 9:00 a.m. . Please call 416-304-7600 to reserve your tickets. As in the past, we will be setting up a special reservation voice-mail box in order to allow multiple calls to be received simultaneously with the ability to track the date & time of the calls. Your message and reservation will be confirmed.

Again this year we will be pre-selling “SHOW ONLY” tickets through our ticket line. This way, you and/or your group can book tickets in advance, instead of waiting until the last minute.

~ FULL EVENING GROUP TICKETS @ $50 each will go on sale beginning at 9:00 a.m. on February 19th for tables of 10 or more only.

~ FULL EVENING INDIVIDUAL TICKETS @ $50 each will go on sale beginning at 9:00 a.m. on February 26th for individual sales or groups of less than 10.

~ SHOW ONLY TICKETS @ $25 each will go on sale beginning at 9:00 a.m. on February 26th for individuals who wish to arrive after the dinner in time for the Show portion of the evening.

Please Note: Because we sold out to capacity in advance in 2006, there will be NO "Show Only" tickets available at the door on the Gala evening. All tickets MUST be purchased IN ADVANCE.

Ticket prices are the same as last year. "Full Evening” tickets are $50.00 and “Show Only” tickets will cost $25.00.

Other Important Information
Dress:

Put on the 'Ritz' for a special night of celebration! We suggest that dress should be semi-formal to formal.

Food:

“Full Evening” tickets include a full multi-course meal. Any dietary restrictions must be discussed with Maureen Lukie by March 15th. Contact or 416-469-5061 for assistance.

Bar:

There will be a cash bar for the pre-dinner cocktail hour as well as throughout the evening.

Smoking:

Smoking will be in a designated area outside.

Photography:
Photographer Jack Spencer will be on hand again to capture the evening's award winners and anyone wishing a portrait. Immortalize the evening with your friends and colleagues and order prints!

PICTURE THIS! PHOTOS WANTED AGAIN!

We will again be running our visual presentation of all the productions entered in this year's festival to make the evening more involving and exciting. To help us make this portion of the evening even more successful than it was last year, we would love to include photographic projections of every one of this year's festival shows.

You can help: please forward (via e-mail, on disk, or in hard copy) one or two stills from any of your 2007 Festival productions with group name, production titles, dates, names and any other information you consider relevant by March 15th. We will include them as part of our ongoing collage projection celebration of the festival season prior to the awards, and winning productions during the ceremony as they are announced.

Each "full evening" or "show only" guest will be eligible for one of several prizes to be drawn at the end of the awards presentations. To be eligible for these prizes, the draw portion of your gala ticket must be turned in at the door.


"SPONSOR A THEA AWARD"

In 2006, eleven community theatre groups each donated $100.00 to sponsor an award category at the Gala. ACT-CO acknowledges Georgetown Little Theatre (Best Lighting Design), Theatre Aurora (Best Set Design), Oshawa Little Theatre (Best Costume Design), East Side Players (Best Sound Design), Georgetown Globe Productions (Best Choreographer & Best Musical Director), Scarborough Theatre Guild (Best Performance, Female, in a Supporting Role), Newmarket Stage Company (Best Performance, Male, in a Leading Role & Best Performance, Female, in a Leading Role), The Curtain Club (Best Direction of a Play), The Oakville Players (Comedy Adjudicator's Awards), Blackhorse Village Players (Drama Adjudicator's Awards) and Clarkson Music Theatre (Musical Adjudicator's Awards) for their generous support of last year's awards.

A number of these companies gave their sponsorships as a tribute to the contributions of colleagues who are no longer with us. When doing so, the group's are invited to submit information on the individual for complimentary inclusion in ACT-CO's special Final Curtain memorial section.

This year we have 42 awards in 14 categories. We invite you to consider this opportunity to sponsor your favourite Thea award. We are asking for a sponsorship per category of only $100.00. The sponsorship process will be handled on a first come, first serve basis. You may request a particular category, but unfortunately, we cannot guarantee your choice. ACT-CO will sponsor the three Best Production awards.
